Thank you for considering a vehicle donation. Road Worthy NEO uses donated vehicles—after inspection and reconditioning—to help young adults and other eligible individuals gain reliable transportation for work, education, and essential needs.
Our goal is simple: provide vehicles expected to deliver dependable service for at least 24 months, with minimal repair burden.
Basic eligibility
We generally look for vehicles that:
- Have a clean, transferable title
- Are not branded as:
- Salvage
- Rebuilt
- Flood-damaged
- Lemon law buyback
- Junk / parts-only
- Can pass required state inspections and registration requirements (or are reasonably expected to do so after approved reconditioning)
- Have no known major structural or frame damage
- Do not have unrepaired safety recalls—unless the recall repair can be completed promptly at no cost
- Are insurable at a reasonable market rate for the intended recipient
Preferred characteristics
We prioritize vehicles that are more likely to provide dependable commuting life, including:
- Long-term reliability
- Affordable insurance
- Affordable maintenance and repair
- Widely available parts and service
- Fuel efficiency for Northeast Ohio commuting
- Appropriate for year-round driving conditions
- A strong likelihood of 24+ months of dependable service (We prefer longer.)
Age, mileage, and condition
These are screening guidelines, not strict rules—final acceptance depends on inspection results and reconditioning needs.
- Preferred age: generally 5–15 years old or newer (depending on condition)
- Preferred mileage: generally under 150,000 miles
- Vehicles over 150,000 miles may be considered only if they:
- Have strong maintenance history
- Pass inspection
- Are from highly reliable make/model categories
- Are expected to have low near-term repair risk
We look for no signs of severe neglect, such as:
- Significant rust that affects structural integrity
- Poor engine or transmission performance
- Electrical problems
- Brake or suspension issues
- Unsafe tire condition
Vehicles That Are Commonly a Good Fit
Road Worthy NEO often prioritizes:
- Coupes and sedans
- Small SUVs
These types often offer:
- Lower purchase and repair costs
- Better fuel economy
- Typically more accessible insurance rates
Vehicles We May Avoid or Limit
Unless there is a strong, documented reason, we generally avoid or limit vehicles that are:
- Luxury brands with high repair costs
- Sports cars and high-performance vehicles
- Vehicles with discontinued parts support
- Large trucks or high-cost SUVs (unless required for work/family need)
- Known chronic reliability problems
- Sold “as-is” without an opportunity for inspection
- Auction vehicles without sufficient condition documentation
Our Repair and Cost Limits (Why Inspection Matters)
After a vehicle passes inspection and is selected, we may perform approved repairs and reconditioning to prepare it for a driver with a maximum repairs/improvements of $2,000.
If a vehicle requires repairs beyond these limits, it is generally not a match for the program (unless an approved exception applies).
The Inspection Process
Step 1: Submit your vehicle donation request
Use our contact form (or reach out using the information below) with:
- Vehicle year, make, model
- VIN (if available)
- Mileage
- Current condition (running / not running, notable issues)
- Photos (optional but helpful)
Step 2: Schedule an inspection
All vehicles must undergo inspection before official acceptance.
- Inspection location (currently): Matrix Trade Institute, 23632 Mercantile Rd, Beachwood, OH 44122
Step 3: Pre-purchase inspection results
Our inspection reviews key items such as:
- Engine and transmission condition

- Fluid leaks, rust/underbody condition, and frame integrity
- Odometer consistency and signs of wear
Step 4: Decision and next steps
After inspection, we will decide whether the vehicle can be reconditioned within our cost and reliability standards.
What Happens If Your Vehicle Is Accepted?
If your vehicle is accepted into the program, we will:
- Complete any approved repairs needed to make the vehicle safe, roadworthy, and suitable for daily commuting
- Prioritize repairs in this order:
- Safety
- Mechanical reliability
- Required inspection/emissions compliance
- Basic usability needs
- Limited cosmetic improvements only if the vehicle is otherwise sound
